Burning man
Photos by Larry Turner
Nevada's Black Rock Desert is host to the Burning
Man Event every week leading up to and during Labor Day Weekend. It is a celebration
of free speech, free art, free expression. It is a celebration of life and the
moment. It is unlike any event you'll ever attend. A self-made city is constructed
and taken down within three weeks, host to and constructed by 48,000 people
from around the world. It is called Black Rock City. It is an expression, an
entertainment, and participation event. Held on the largest flat area on the
planet--surrounded by desert mountain ranges--, it is a bleak, lonely and beautiful
desert playa, fragile just like the Burning Man participants. Following is a
photo essay. Why speak or write sometimes when photos are more articulate. Information
on the Burning Man can be accessed at: www.burningman.com.
