Getting There:  The Yampa Valley Regional Airport located in Hayden is the closest airport to Steamboat Springs, just 22 miles west of the resort. Airlines servicing Hayden are Delta, American, United, Continental, and Northwest. Major airports that have direct flights into Hayden are: Dallas, Chicago, Houston, Newark, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Denver and Salt Lake City. Ground transportation to the resort and surrounding lodging facilities is available from Hayden airport by private shuttles. Alpine Taxi and Limo, (800-343-7433 or 970-879-2800) and Storm Mountain Express (1-970-879-1963).  Getting around Steamboat without a car is easy by using the city’s free shuttle, the SST (970-879-3717), between the ski resort, town and most condominiums, restaurants, groceries and entertainment establishments. The SST runs from 7:00 a.m. until 1:45 a.m. daily. Many of the lodging establishments also offer their own private transport.

Staying There: There are a variety of hotels, condos and inns available on the mountain and in the adjacent valley. Steamboat Springs Central Reservations (877-237-2628) represents over 95% of the lodging properties in Steamboat and can help you book your vacation package. Fast Facts: Steamboat is a complete mountain range: Mount Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge® and Christie Peak. 2,939 acres (1176 hectares) of permitted terrain offer a diversity of trails (164) for all levels of ability, with the longest superpipe,  Mavericks Superpipe, on the continent. The base elevation is 6,900 feet with a vertical rise of 3,668 feet. The ski area’s season typically runs from late November until the second Sunday in April.

 A variety of winter activities are available including snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hot air ballooning, snowmobile tours, sleigh rides and ice climbing. Click here for more information on these pursuits.
